Use this tool between dosing and tamping to uniformly distribute ground coffee in your portafilter basket for consistent and repeatable shots. Adjust to precise depth then lock in place.

Diameter:49.6 mm
Designed for a close tolerance fit in 49 mm filter baskets. This tool fits machines such as La Pavoni Lever (pre 1999), Olympia Club Cremina, Express, and others.
Finish: Raw machined, Each tool will have a unique and personal character (tooling marks and/or minor finish inconsistencies should be expected).
Piston Adjustment Range: 5mm - 14mm

To adjust your tool for proper depth:
- Unlock the tool by unscrewing the handle (top section) and sleeve (center section)
- Rotate the piston (bottom section) until it reaches the desired depth. 1 full turn = 1mm of change
- Tighten the handle and sleeve to lock the piston into place

A friend told me that this was part of his toolkit for making espresso. I didn't entirely believe it, but I'll do anything to improve my espresso game. I have to say, the quality and crema of my espresso, particularly in an Elektra Micro Casa a Leva which isn't known for its crema production, increased dramatically. It's amazing to see how one tool minimized the amount of channeling I had in my espresso packing work. Highly recommend, I feel really bad for anyone getting into coffee who gets the time-old traditional advice of getting just a tamper.
